'And then the day came when the risk to remain in a tight bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom' ~ Khalil Gibran

The Yakira Centre

The name 'Yakira' is Hebrew and means costly, dear and precious so the essence of self-value and worth is what we aim to promote and encourage in all we do.

At The Yakira Centre our mission is to ensure that we listen and honour your individuality; we will sit alongside you and support you while you explore the person you are today; and we will help you make the changes you might need and want to make in order for life to be more peaceful and fulfilling for you.

We recognise that we all experience times when we feel down, stressed or terrified and more often than not those emotions pass. However, in some cases they can form into a more major issue and that could happen to any of us.

Seeing a counsellor can help you work on things that bother you or cause you distress. It can help with things such as loneliness, confusion, depression and anxiety as well as help you to process and cope with trauma or various life changing circumstances.

However, you don’t have to be unwell or in a crisis to benefit from counselling, you just may need to talk to someone to get things clear in your head.

By selecting our service, you can be certain that you will receive the utmost professionalism because our therapists adhere to the codes of ethics set forth by the National Counselling Society, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Whatever you come to the centre for, we offer a relaxed and confidential space where you matter.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment:

Often, the most difficult part of counselling is taking the initial steps. Our amiable group of therapists are waiting to greet you. Upon receiving your initial inquiry, our lead therapist will discuss your requirements with you and assign you to a therapist who will get in touch with you to schedule your session.

(Our  assessments are carried out before you start seeing one of our counsellors. This gives us an opportunity to talk through the difficulties you are experiencing and what it is you hope to achieve through counselling.  Assessments take place at the centre and last up to 30 minutes).

Please be aware an assessment is not a therapeutic session
